The Team

Who We Are

With its various industry and academic partners, AIvocate is led by Sylvia Chan-Olmsted, Professor of Media Production, Management, & Technology and Director of Media Consumer Research in the College of Journalism and Communications, and My T. Thai, Professor of Computer & Information Sciences & Engineering and Associate Director of Nelms Institute for the Connected World, and a Fellow of the IEEE, both at the University of Florida in the United States.

While Sylvia is a social scientist who specializes in trust and adoption of AI technologies, digital media consumption, strategic messaging, and consumer behavior, My is a renowned computer science professor who is a pioneer researcher in trustworthy AI, data mining, machine learning, and cybersecurity with applications to blockchains, healthcare, social media, and critical networking infrastructure.

AIvocate is a collaborative work of the two researcher-educators aiming at realizing what they study and believe - with knowledge, community, and safeguards, AI can make many positive changes in our society.
